My Current Favorite Workout Playlist

I don’t know about you, but I have to listen to music while I workout. I throw a workout playlist together and get to business. Something about getting lost in the lyrics makes the time go by so much faster. I listen to just about every genre of music there is. But when I’m running and working out I typically prefer to listen to an upbeat playlist. However, I have been enjoying a little rock n roll while I do my bodyweight exercise lately.

Sometimes you need the help of music to get you through that last 400 meters or that last set of burpees. Inspiring lyrics and motivational songs can be just what you need to get into shape. Even most professional athletes can be seen plugging their ears with a pair of headphones before a game. Here are the perfect songs to belt out while you’re sweating buckets. This playlist is guaranteed to get you off the couch and moving!

12 Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Hey, guys, it’s Heather! October is already among us, so I wanted to show you my fall wardrobe essentials that are in my closet. These are just my style using simple clothing. Jacket

This is kind of general, but you have to make sure you have a jacket, especially if you travel. You never know what kind of weather you might run into. I live in the desert, so it’s basically hot as hell all year long, but I still have a love for jackets and keep a few in my closet. I like colors because they can add to any outfit.

T-Shirt Dress

Who knew something so comfortable could be so versatile? I love wearing these things anywhere. I never feel overdressed, especially living in Vegas. You can get away with wearing them to the grocery store really. A quick shoe change from sandals to heels can dress the look up. You can layer them with jackets and scarves in the fall or accessorize with fashion jewelry. Need I say more? I love t-shirt dresses.

Cardigan

Not quite cold enough for jackets, but cardigans can be a girl’s best friend. I love layering one over a crop top with a pair of jeans or shorts. You can keep one on you in your purse if you go to the movies or date night. You never know when you might get chilly. I personally like neutral colors so that it matches no matter what top I am wearing. Cardigans are a great way to accessorize a simple look.

Long Sleeve Crop Top

I think long sleeve crop tops are a great additional to your fall wardrobe. They keep your arms warm while you show off your belly and you can dress it up or down. Pairing the crop top with a high-waisted skirt or jean balance out the look. You could even layer a collared shirt underneath for a preppy, but comfortable appeal.

Comfy T-Shirt

There’s something sexy about putting on a slightly oversized t-shirt. Maybe because it feels like a dress? I’m not sure, but I love t-shirts as much as t-shirt dresses. It’s fun to wear a shirt that makes your boobies stand out, but it feels good to put on a breathable t-shirt. I like wearing them with leggings, skirts or jeans. However you style this look, I feel like a comfy t-shirt is every girl’s must-have.

Ankle Boots

Every year, ankle boots seem to be trending in the fall time. They look great with flowy skirts or tight jeans. Most ankle boots are not only stylish but comfortable too.  I’m a short little girl standing at 5-foot tall, so I prefer a little height to my boots.

Leggings

Who doesn’t love a pair of leggings? Not only are they comfortable, but also so versatile. Since they come in so many styles, it’s nice to have options. There was a point in my life where I lived and breathed leggings. I like how I can run errands in them, come home and change my top. Boom! You have workout attire. You can make leggings dressy or lounge around in them.

Baseball T-Shirt

There is something classic about a baseball T.  Maybe because we stole the style from guys fashion and made it even better. More women are sporting this chic and sporty look. I think every woman should have this breathable shirt in their closet.

Black Jeans

You can dress up a pair of black jeans with heels or play it down with a t-shirt and flats. I like to wear a cute flannel with them in the winter. Even when you’re trying to look casual with black pants, it comes across a little more sophisticated than blue denim. Thus, making them just as classic.

Striped Shirt

I feel like striped shirts are very timeless. Yet another great versatile clothing, you can wear them with anything. I’m wearing a bodysuit, but I like striped cropped tops and t-shirts as well. Stripes give an outfit just enough pattern without it being too distracting. Let’s be honest, striped shirts are a staple for every season.

Black Pumps

Pumps come in handy when you need a last minute classy shoe for an interview or special occasion. Even if you aren’t a heel wearer, you have a go-to pair of pumps. They make jeans more girly and dresses more elegant.

Sweater

The best thing you could have in your closet is a sweater. You can literally throw them over anything you’re wearing. Skirt, jeans, dresses, well, you get the picture. I believe my new fascination this season will be sweaters. They come in every style and color, so I think I’ll start building my collection this year. I feel like they are so appropriate for any casual occasion.

6 Morning Habits For A Successful Day

Morning habits lead to making healthy and wise choices throughout your day. There are only 24 hours in a day and time continues to tick by faster every year. It seems impossible to stuff everything you need to do in such a short amount of time. However, you can use your time wisely and include healthy habits that will set you up for success. Many people roll out of bed and immediately into the chaos of their day. But I couldn’t imagine the most successful people rushing through their shower or skipping breakfast.

Developing a regular morning ritual prepares you for the day and helps you to become more productive. Consistency sounds boring and it is to a lot of people, but it’s also necessary for accomplishing your goals. No one climbs the ladder of success overnight. If this were true, everyone would reach the top. You can utilize the morning hours and start your day with positivity by crossing a few items off your “to do” list. Here is a list of things to do instead of pressing the snooze button or smoke that morning cigarette.

 

Yoga and Meditation

Practicing meditation and yoga can help you set your intentions for the day. Spending a few quiet moments to yourself can help clear your mind, sharpen your focus and bring awareness to the body. There are numerous health benefits that have been linked to meditation such as lowered blood pressure and improved blood circulation. I like to start my day with 20 minutes of yoga and end my evening with 20 minutes of meditation. The more frequently you meditate, you’ll be able to handle whatever life throws your way.

 

Eat A Healthy Breakfast

Along with exercise, your body requires proper nourishment to get through the day. Some mornings are hard to wake up, but looking forward to a hearty meal can be motivating. People who eat within an hour of when they wake up will feel energized, focused and healthy. A hearty breakfast can wake you up and power your day. Studies have found that eating breakfast stabilizes glucose levels, which enhances concentration, memory, and creativity. Those who skip the most important meal of the day tend to eat more calories, making weight hard to lose and maintain. Always include protein in your breakfast and avoid heavy meals and starchy foods. Eggs, yogurt, and granola are quick and easy meals that will give you nutrients without weighing you down. A few of my favorite beverages are coffee, green tea, and water with lemon. Try to stay away from juices like orange or cranberry since these beverages contain a large amount of sugar. Drinking a glass of warm water before every meal will benefit your digestive system and keep you full for longer.

 

“Me” Time

What better way to start the day than with yourself. Before you have to rush through traffic and deal with these crazy times we live in, slow down. Light a few candles and pour the bubble bath. The mind needs a break to unwind and refuel. It’s nearly impossible to concentrate on daily tasks when your mind is bogged down. Read a book, take a bath or meditate for a few minutes. It doesn’t matter what your outlet is as long as you have one. Start the day by doing something you legitimately enjoy.


House Work

It’s so annoying to come home after working all day to a dirty house. Do yourself a favor and wake up a few extra minutes earlier to cross off a few items off your list. Start a load of laundry, vacuum the house or check your email to kick off the day with productivity. You’ll thank yourself later knowing that you won’t have to come home to a sink full of dirty dishes.

 

Exercise

I honestly believe that exercise is essential for a completely fulfilling life. Being able to move your body is incredible, so you should take full advantage of your good health. Twenty minutes to an hour of physical activity in the morning helps your creative juices and positive energy flow naturally. Even a few minutes of walking, running or yoga can boost confidence, happiness and focus throughout the day. If you are a dog owner, taking your furry friend on a walk can do the body wonders. The more you can incorporate the outdoors into your day, the happier you will also be. I feel the most creative after an intense workout or a long run outside.


Create Something New

It feels good to start the day off by creating something new. If you are an artist, break out the paint brushes. If you are an author, sit down and write. You’ll feel like you can take on anything that comes your way after you put on your thinking cap. You can also use this time to do any meal prepping for the week to save you, even more, time. Cooking your favorite meals is also a stress reliever to some.
