Loneliness & The Truth | You Are Not Alone

Disclaimer: I am not a mental health professional. This blog post is only my thoughts and views about loneliness and is not intended to be used as expert advice.

You Are Not Alone, I Promise

Even though I haven’t posted a lot about mental health, it is a subject I am passionate about. I just feel that since I am not a professional or expert, it might be better to leave the topic alone. However, this is exactly why so many feel loneliness. And I feel like I need to share my experiences and remind you that everyone feels lonely sometimes. So, you’re not alone.

There are so many Instagram posts about positivity and finding happiness. But I don’t see much about loneliness. And you should know that everyone experiences these painful feels. It’s only human to want more social interactions. Did you know that newborns can actually be killed by lack of physical affection?

Loneliness does not discriminate and can happen at any time. You could be in a room full of people and suddenly feel like you are the only one on the planet. You could also feel lonely moving to a different city or starting a new school or career. It can be intimidating and isolating to not know anyone around you.

When we feel like no one is listening to us or we’re being misunderstood, it can feel like the world is shutting us out. I graduated from a small high school and started college in 2011. You could say I was the small town girl stuck in the big city. However, I felt so secluded and alone. I didn’t know anyone and I had no one to connect with.

…But It’s Only Human To Feel Loneliness

It’s easy to feel different and that you don’t belong anywhere. Maybe not everyone sees the world how you perceive it. Sometimes it’s hard to connect with others and express exactly how you feel. There are over 7.5 billion people in the world and every one of us is unique. We all have our own way of communicating, so you might feel like you can’t get your point across.

If you are physically alone all the time, this can be sad and stressful too. But it’s all about your perspective. Use this time to get things done. Whether you need to do some chores around the house, run errands, or even work on a new hobby. Being alone with yourself is also a new way to get to know yourself better.

And once you master self-love, you will be able to entertain yourself all day long. Self-love is an on-going journey, but it gets a little less lonely every day when you start you really love yourself. Honestly, I cherish the times I have with myself. I feel productive and end up getting so much done. Not to say that I don’t get a little down every once and a while or feel lonely. But don’t feel loneliness as much nowadays.

I hope I can help make your world a little less lonely place. Everyone feels lonely sometimes and that’s normal. If you feel like you need to seek out help, I encourage you to check out some of the resources down below.
