Weight Loss Mistakes You Might Be Making
A lot of people think that shredding a few pounds means burning more calories, eating less, and moving more. However, losing weight is more strategic than you think. With all the false information out there, it’s easy to make weight loss mistakes along the way.
With the holidays here in our face already, you are going to need to be disciplined and tactical. You might think you are doing everything you can to drop those last few pounds. However, you might actually be contributing to your plateau. Maybe you are topping your salads with fatty dressings or you are binge eating healthy foods.
Here are a few mistakes that you might be making along your weight loss journey. And things to keep in mind this holiday season.
Not Changing Up Your Routine
A major mistake that most people make is doing the same workout routine and eating the same foods every day. We typically get used to something and don’t like to change up what we are comfortable with. Truth be told, you should be switching it up as soon as you get used to a routine. Personally, I change up my workouts every 4-5 weeks to keep my body guessing.
You Binge Eat While You Binge Watch
We all know that catching up on those seasons on that Netflix show takes hours. And you are bound to get the munchies at some point. You pull out all your favorite snacks and treats from the pantry. Then, you set them all down like you’re at a buffet. (Don’t worry, I am guilty too) Being mindful is crucial when it comes to eating right and losing weight. Most of the time we don’t even taste our food when our attention is focused on the big screen. Instead, take smaller bites and savor the flavor. Your digestive system has time to decide if you are full or not when you eat slower.
Ruining Your Salad With Dressing
That’s great you’ve been eating salads, but maybe you are getting carried away with the drizzle. It’s easy to pour on dressings and sauces to give your greens more flavor. But in reality, you are giving your salad something else. There are 2000 calories in one cup of oil, so you do the math. Remember to always read labels and do your research on which dressings are healthier options. Also, you might want to cook your vegetables with a little less oil or maybe opt for vegetable broth instead.
Doing All The Crunches, But Not Enough Cardio
Doing 500 crunches a day is not going to get you that flat stomach. You only burn about 10 calories for every 100 crunches you do. So you do the math. It might strengthen your core, but in order to see fat loss, you have to be in a caloric deficit. Keep training your abs, but get at least 150 minutes of cardio a week if you are trying to lose weight. If you are having trouble seeing your abs, you might just have a little too much fat on top of your 6-pack.
